One of the reasons the division is so deep in the country is how segregated people choose to be. I tell any kid looking at college to go to a school that’s located at the opposite environment you live in. I left NY and went to Penn State because I needed a change. It was the best move for my mind and personal feelings.

Live outside where you are from and you learn empathy more and understanding that life isn’t supposed to be “one way” and there is several ways to live. You also learn what’s really prioritized in one area and what’s prioritized elsewhere, that gives you perspective on how the world works. Maybe if more people had the balls to do that, life would be better.
