Thoughts during my current trip to DR.

-I want to start to use a moka for my coffee. Even with normal coffee since it makes it more concentrated.

-I will try to drive a little more offensively, rather than defensively. I also realize I don’t need an SUV, and my family could get by with a compact or sedan (sadly the cool compacts mile the Fit are not in the US anymore).

-Maybe I should look into freelance work like a virtual assistant or some virtual job so I have freedom to work and travel easier. -this past week I haven’t worn my Apple Watch, and it didn’t bother me. I would like a wristwatch, and I know the G Shock series by Casio aren’t too expensive but are very durable. If most military are wearing them in different operations it’s good enough for me.

-Being in DR shows me how prominent WhatsApp is, and I do like it. I always wanted to try to get people I know to use apps like WhatsApp or Signal to communicate, since that’s encrypted and uses data not a cell network, which traditional texts do. I also don’t want the “person a is on an Android, while everyone else is iPhones” so there are some limits. I should turn around and tell everyone “if you don’t text me on WhatsApp or Signal (haven’t decided which one I’d go with) I won’t get it”, but I’m sure there are better ways to communicate my wishes.

-Learning Spanish has been one of my goals, and this trip reinforced I definitely need to. I found the US Government FSI program that helps teach their agents languages and it’s free. They have one that is specific for Latin America.
