I have been learning data anaysis software and languages. So far I have been exposed to languages like SQL and Python and software as Excel (well, learning how to utilize it for data analysis and cleanup), and Tableau. I really like using Escel and tableau but I see the value in Python and SQL. RIght now I am looking to do a final project on Tableau for the course I am taking.

The Super Bowl is coming up, and I am backing the Eagles to win it. I have no issues with the Chiefs, I actually like them. I’m not a fan of the calls they get, but hey by any means necessary in football and in life. I’m rooting for the Eagles for several reasons. I like Philly as a city, they are more fun than New York and how they get behind their pro teams.

Imagine this: You get an opportunity to interview for a job. You have to have your background checked (which is normal operating procedure), and you have to disclose any and all potential conflicts of interests. You talk to some employees at the company to see what’s the temprature of the management. Finally the day comes and you get to meet with some of the senior members of the company. You sit down and start talking, and most of the interview is more about anything and everything they found in your past,much of which is irrelevent to the role you are interviewing for.

Just thinking about the California fires and the news of insurance companies backing out on their paying customers' policies. This is akin to the insurance firms dropping Floridian customers due to hurricanes. It’s disgusting they can do that,and it’s just simply so itdoesn’t affect the stock price. That nonsense is so fucked up. To me companies in the Insurance, Pharmaceutical, and Health Care should be forbidden to be publicly traded. That leads to corruption and insance policies that have no base in logic or fairness.

Congestion pricing: all you people who had a hard-on for it and got what you wanted better hold the scum you elected to their word. The MTA said we will all see massive and drastic improvements immediately, so I expect to see all trains and stations at Montreal or DC levels of cleanliness and aesthetic by next year

Yesterday my daughter and I opened up one of her gifts: a Playshifu reading and vocabulary game that hooks up to an iPad. Seeing her use it and understanding how it works almost made me cry. Cry in a way I was so happy to see her playing with something and (hopefully) learning. We have some of the Osmo playsets as well, but up until now it looked like they were gone.

I will write more later, but a couple of things: -Copilot is better than ChatGPT as far as I’m concerned -Starting to try to do projects in Python and SQL to make a portfolio in hopes to find a job in data analysis -petemarus.com may go away in the form it is now and become something new. -the month of December depresses me a lot, and I may look at therapy about it

My observations of various social media platforms: -X is the purest form of free speech once you get through the shitty ads in the feed. -Bluesky is less aggressive X, and just enough leftist complaining about how they hate how the real world works. Threads is if you take your most annoying friend or ex and made it into a social media feed. It’s just bitching and moaning to the point it’s not fun to be around.

One of the reasons the division is so deep in the country is how segregated people choose to be. I tell any kid looking at college to go to a school that’s located at the opposite environment you live in. I left NY and went to Penn State because I needed a change. It was the best move for my mind and personal feelings. Live outside where you are from and you learn empathy more and understanding that life isn’t supposed to be “one way” and there is several ways to live.

I’m also thinking of ditching SquareSpace and moving my domain to here, so I can post shorter things and syndicate them easier. I kind of fell off posting there, but maybe this will be a better option.

I am also thinking about how I have felt the last several days, where I feel like I am stupid, and how people treat me and talk to me as if I am are right. I feel lost and always angry. I feel like where I am is because I am stupid and somehow got lucky with a lot of things.

Feeling sad given the time of year. Staying home this Thanksgiving because daughter is sick. Thinking of how happy this time of year should be but isn’t. Lost a lot of family between now and Christmas over the years.
